Perceptive Instruments Ltd., founded in 1990, develops, manufactures and supplies image analysis and data processing solutions for many areas of scientific research and industry.
The first paper on the single-cell gel electrophoresis assay was published in 1984 by O. Ostling and K.J. Johanson (Biochem. Biophys. Res. Commun. Vol.123: 291-298). Next August will mark the 30th anniversary of the comet assay.
To celebrate, Frontiers (a community-oriented open-access academic publisher and research network) will be publishing a special edition ‘Frontiers in Genetics: 30 years of the Comet Assay: an overview with some new insights’.
The deadline for abstract submission is 30 Nov 2013 and we urge all our Comet Assay IV users to submit an abstract detailing their latest comet assay research or opinions.
Different applications of the comet assay will be discussed, including: genotoxicity testing, human biomonitoring, DNA repair studies, environmental biomonitoring and clinical studies. Furthermore, the edition will consider, and where possible answer, some of the fundamental questions surrounding the comet assay. This ‘Frontiers in Genetics’ research topic will be written for beginner and experienced comet assay scientists.
